Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green™ Battles Hard at Camp Coker

March 30, 2025 | Camp Coker Bullet | Society Hill, SC

SOCIETY HILL, S.C. (March 31, 2025) - The first dry race of the Progressive Grand National Cross Country season did not disappoint. With high temperatures and a fast, rough track, fitness was a big component of the race. Steward Baylor didn’t get the best of starts, but battled his way back on his KX™450X to a third-place finish. “I’ve been sick for a week, but I gave it all I had out there. When I started my push to the front, my body gave out. Just no energy. I’m happy to end the day on the podium with the way I feel,” said Baylor.

Josh Toth had a strong day. After starting mid-pack, Toth clawed his way into the Top 5. Even after a near disaster on a big kicker in the South Carolina sand, Toth and his KX™250X worked his way into fourth place in the XC2 class. “It was gnarly out there. I’m happy with the bike changes we made for the weekend. I just need to be better at the beginning of the race and I’ll be back on the podium,” said Toth.

Round 1 overall winner Nick DeFeo had a tough day. After a bad start, DeFeo pushed hard but ended up crashing on the second lap, he was able to remount and finish seventh in the XC2 Class. “I tried really hard to catch up, but after I crashed, I was out of sorts. A little bit of arm pump, hot conditions, and the rough track made it tough. I know where I can be better and I’m looking forward to the next round,” said DeFeo.

Rachael Archer had a strong ride, finishing second overall in the WXC class. Archer led a majority of the race, but a lapper halted her progress on the last lap, allowing another rider to pass. She was bummed to miss out on the win, but overall happy with the finish. “This track was tough. I’m happy to run at the front and be able to get some good points on a track that doesn’t suit my riding style. I’m looking forward to getting back to more technical tracks,” said Archer.

Caleb Wood had a strong ride to finish second in 4-Stroke A Lites, and Collier Martinez got his first Top 5 of the season in 250 A Class.

The team will race again next weekend at the Beta Cajun Classic National Enduro in Louisiana.
